"A truly great book should be read in youth, again in maturity and once more in old age, as a fine building should be seen by morning light, at noon and by moonlight." - Robertson Davies

About

The W.A. Deacon Literary Foundation is a non-profit organization with a mandate to educate and increase the general public’s understanding and appreciation of the literary arts in Canada.

Instead of passively promoting the Governor General’s Literary Awards from a desk we will physically transport the rare book collection and authors directly to the public via local institutions across Canada.

In addition to our exhibits and author performances the Foundation also sponsors a National Book-Collecting Contest for young Canadians under 30 years of age. Our future plans include the promotion, preservation and conservation of manuscript, archival and published material, and the awarding of scholarships for the study and research of book history and print culture which have an emphasis on Canada.
